Catching up

So, what happened during these 5 months? What, 5 months already?

Well, we first flew to Australia, and spent 2 month over there. 1 week in Sydney (album 1), then we hired a van and started a road trip for a month, driving from Sydney to Cairns along the coast. (albums 2 and 3). You can have a look on the “itinéraire” page and see where we have been. We dropped the van in Cairns, and spent the last 2 weeks heading south again. We stopped in a place called Mission Beach. We discovered the village on the way to Cairns and spent 5 days there (instead of just one night). So we stayed another 10 days on the return. It was like in paradise. There are some pictures in albums 3 and 4. We stayed in a hostel and made friends with the managers. Cédric worked in the hostel to reduce the rent. It was almost on the beach, and the place was so quiet with not much tourists. We cooked for the managers and they made us drink Australian wines. Very good athmosphere!

After that, we travelled by bus back to Brisbane, where we took off to New Zealand!!

We arrived directly in Auckland. We stayed a week in a backpacker and started to look for a flat. We found a house in a place called Takapuna. Its one more time on the coast and we live near the beach. See album 5. We live here with Steph and her son (William, 13) and Sarah and her daughter (Britney, 13). Sarah moved out a few weeks ago.

After accommodation, we looked for a job. We found jobs very quickly. Cédric started to work in a supermarket called New world, and I found a position as a runner in a semi-posh restaurant. I quit the job after 3 weeks because I didn’t like it. It was too cold, not friendly enough…simply not for me. So I looked for another job near our house. I found something else after a week, in a Café called Café d’amour. Perfect! I’m still working there.  In the meantime, I started a small business of jewelry and fabric accessories to sell on the market. I have been on the Takapuna market every Sunday ever since.  We made some pictures.

Cédric is still working in the supermarket, but he leaves on Saturday. We will soon start to travel again. I finish next week. We looked for a van (well, Cédric more than me). We even made some movies about it - in the Supertrip TV section. Now we are working on it: we are making it our home (can I say that?) with bed and everything. Everything but a fridge, an oven, a bathroom… We will make a movie about it as well. We will try to do it in French and English.

We spend a lot of time working on the van. And as we don’t have any day off together, we don’t do many things. The only time we’ve been out of Auckland was to buy the van! So you can imagine how excited we are about travellin again. In 2 weeks we will leave Auckland. We plan to spend 2 months on the North Island, and the rest of the trip on the South Island. We are staying a year in New-Zealand, we have a working holiday visa. We plan to be in Christchurch in March ad meet some friends over there. We want to spend the winter in the mountains and do a lot of snow board (special thoughts to Erin, Charlotte and the Luxos). We will probably work again there.

It is summer now. It was weird to have Christmas in summer!
