Christchurch

Hello everybody!

How's goin' (with kiwi accent please)?

You may have seen on "notre itinéraire" -on the right hand side- that we are now in the middle of the South Island. We planned to stay longer in the North Island, and then to travel a bit around the South Island, but we changed our plans. So we travelled 3 weeks in the north, then we thought that we were ready to go to the South Island. We took the ferry in Wellington, right after the rugby tournament (see the pictures!) and the visit of a remote region populated by seals. We arrived in Picton, which is surrounded by amazing landscapes, but it was raining. Life in a van is a bit less funny when the weather is bad. And I have to admit that after a month of travelling, I felt a bit lonely. We didn't meet anyone because we were always moving from one place to the next one, and we always slept in the van -which is very comfortable- not in a backpacker where we could have met poeple. Anyway, we decided to change the plan one more time, and we hit Christchurch, further south on the east coast. Here it is much colder!

So we've been here for about 10 days now. We looked for a flat and for a job. We found a room in a house with other people (2 Russians, 1 French guy, 1 Czech girl and a Brazilian guy). We moved in 2 days ago. It is good to have a kitchen and a bathroom again!! Yesterday I spent many hours cooking and baking!

I found a part-time job in a bead shop, so i'm verry happy. And I will try to be on the market during the week-ends to sell my jewellery and accessories. If I can do that it will be enough to survive in the jungle of Chritchurch. Cédric is still looking for a job.

We plan to stay 3 months here and then go to Queenstown for the winter. We want to snowboard -it makes me think about you, Erin-. But we still have time to change the plans...
